Emily Gribbin: A Rising Star in Trap Shooting

At just 13 years old, Emily Gribbin is already making waves in the world of trap shooting. With a passion for the sport and an undeniable talent, she has been turning heads since she first stepped onto the shooting range. Her recent performance at the Florida State Trap-shoot held at Silverdollar Shooters Club from Thursday through Sunday is a testament to her dedication and skill.


Throughout the four-day competition, Emily showcased her abilities and reached significant milestones along the way. On Thursday, she kicked off the event with an impressive performance, shooting a remarkable 95 out of 100 singles, earning her the title of class D champion. Not stopping there, Emily also shot 93 out of 100 handicaps, securing the position of sub junior champion and advancing to class C.


Friday proved to be another exceptional day for Emily as she continued to dominate the competition. With a score of 98 out of 100 handicaps, she clinched the overall champion title out of 233 shooters, an outstanding achievement that also earned her a 1-yard punch back.


Saturday saw Emily's success continue as she shot 189 out of 200 singles, once again claiming the sub junior champion title. Although Sunday presented some challenges, with scores of 77 out of 100 doubles and 77 out of 100 handicaps at her new yardage, Emily's overall performance throughout the competition was nothing short of phenomenal.


Reflecting on her accomplishments, Emily remains humble yet determined. "I know the things I need to focus and work on," she says, highlighting her commitment to continuous improvement. Looking ahead to future competitions, Emily and her supporters are eager to see her progress further.


One notable highlight of Emily's journey in trap shooting is her remarkable consistency. On April 3, 2023, she achieved her first and only 25 straight at Eustis Gun Club, earning her a coveted 25 straight patch. During the recent competition, she hit 25 straight on five separate occasions, demonstrating her growing proficiency and raising hopes for a 50 straight in the near future.


Beyond her individual achievements, Emily has also embraced the camaraderie of the trap shooting community, forming friendships with fellow shooters and learning from experienced competitors. "I met a lot of great shooters and made some new friends along my journey," she remarks, emphasizing the supportive and inclusive nature of the sport.


As Emily Gribbin continues to pursue her passion for trap shooting, her remarkable talent and dedication serve as an inspiration to aspiring shooters everywhere.
