Small Targets. Big Challenge.
There is something uniquely satisfying about hearing steel ring and watching a silhouette fall.
The EGC .22 Hunter Silhouette Match combines precision rifle shooting with the challenge of engaging steel animal-shaped targets placed at varying distances downrange. Shooters must rely on steady fundamentals, careful sight alignment, trigger control, and consistency as they work their way through a course of fire designed to test accuracy from target to target.
Unlike traditional paper-target shooting, silhouette gives you immediate feedback — hit the target and the steel tells the story.
What Is Hunter Silhouette?
Hunter Silhouette is a precision shooting sport using steel targets shaped like game animals. At EGC, shooters engage a series of steel silhouettes positioned downrange, with each target presenting its own challenge.
The goal is simple: hit the steel. The challenge is doing it consistently.
The relatively small targets and changing distances make this an excellent match for shooters who want to improve their practical rimfire marksmanship while enjoying a friendly competitive environment.
Additionally, this is the perfect beginner match for kids and their parents. .22 rifles and ammo are economical and the steel sound and action is the perfect satisfaction for young shooters.
A Match for Marksmen — and Members Who Want to Become Better Marksmen
You don't have to be an experienced competition shooter to appreciate Hunter Silhouette. This match is a great opportunity for EGC members who enjoy .22 rifle shooting and want to move beyond shooting groups on paper. Steel silhouettes introduce a completely different challenge and require shooters to apply the fundamentals of marksmanship under match conditions.
Experienced competitors can test their consistency and refine their technique, while newer shooters can discover a traditional shooting sport that rewards patience, concentration, and accuracy.
Hunter Silhouette isn't about speed. It's about making the shot count. Each target demands focus. Every hit is earned. And because you're shooting reactive steel, there is no wondering where the shot went when you connect.
It's a simple concept that can become surprisingly challenging:
Find the target. Settle the rifle. Control the trigger. Hit the steel. Then do it again.
