Building the Next Generation of EGC

At Eustis Gun Club, investing in youth shooting sports means investing in the future of our Club.

The EGC Smokin' Pigeons Youth Shotgun Team provides young shooters with the opportunity to develop firearm safety, competitive marksmanship, discipline, confidence, sportsmanship, and responsibility while representing Eustis Gun Club in organized shooting competition.

What began as an opportunity to introduce more young people to the shooting sports has developed into an organized and highly successful EGC program whose athletes and families have become an important part of our Club community.

The Smokin' Pigeons don't simply shoot at EGC. They represent EGC.

More Than a Competitive Team

Competition is an important part of the program, but the mission of EGC Youth Shooting Sports extends far beyond scores and trophies.

Our goal is to develop young shooters who understand that being part of a team—and being part of Eustis Gun Club—also means safety, responsibility, sportsmanship, service, respect, and community.

The families participating in the Smokin' Pigeons maintain EGC membership and are active participants in our Club. Parents, athletes, coaches, and volunteers contribute their time to practices, competitions, Club activities, events, and the continued success of the program.

This creates something much larger than a youth shooting team.

It creates EGC families who participate together, volunteer together, travel together, compete together, and help strengthen the Club their children represent.

Training & Competition

The Smokin' Pigeons train regularly at Eustis Gun Club under experienced coaching and program leadership.

The team participates in competitive shotgun programs including ATA/AIM, Florida Trapshooting Association events, and SCTP competition, giving our youth opportunities to compete locally, throughout Florida, and across the country.

Team members establish individual shooting goals and receive instruction appropriate to their experience and development. Regular practices provide opportunities for both individual coaching and team training, with an emphasis on safe firearm handling and the fundamentals necessary for successful competitive shooting.

Practice schedules and upcoming activities are posted on the EGC Facility Calendar.

Representing EGC Across the Country

Our youth shooters have demonstrated that a relatively small team from Eustis Gun Club can accomplish some very big things.

2025–2026 Competitive Season

A team of just 6 Eustis Gun Club Youth Team Shooters

Competed in 319 events
Traveled to 9 states
Competed at 14 gun clubs
Traveled more than 15,000 miles

Fired approximately 63,850 registered and practice targets
Earned 139 awards
Captured 12 Overall Championships
Earned 80 Sub-Junior and Junior category championships

The season also produced World Championship titles, Florida championship-level performances, and two ATA All-American Team selections

Those accomplishments put Eustis Gun Club's name on scoreboards, championship lists, and shooting fields far beyond Central Florida. For EGC, however, the greatest accomplishment isn't simply the number of trophies brought home. It's how our youth represent the Club while earning them.

Safety, Family & EGC Membership

Safety remains the foundation of every youth practice, training session, and competition. Team participants follow established EGC safety requirements and program procedures under the supervision of coaches and program leadership.

Participation in the competitive team requires the shooter's family to become and remain current Eustis Gun Club members. Additional memberships with applicable competitive organizations, including ATA/AIM, may also be required depending upon the competitions in which the athlete participates.

This family-membership requirement is intentional.

The Smokin' Pigeons are an EGC team, and we want our youth athletes and their families to be part of the Club community they represent.

Interested in Joining the Smokin' Pigeons? You don't need to arrive with a collection of trophies. You need an interest in learning, a commitment to safety, a willingness to practice, and a family ready to become part of the EGC community.

Families interested in learning more about eligibility, practices, equipment, competition requirements, or joining the Smokin' Pigeons should contact Eustis Gun Club.
